Date & Time: 4 week workshop, from 2pm-5pm on 10/21, 10/28, 11/4 and 11/18.

Description:

In this 4 week workshop we’ll jump into the fascinating world of figure drawing mainly focusing on anatomy and gesture. Artists will work from a nude model so they can gather an understanding of how the human body moves in space while at the same time studying human anatomy mainly focusing on: head, trunk, arms and legs.

We will run the workshop with a minimum of 5 people.

Suggested material list:

*please bring the following supplies.  All items can be purchased at Nevada Fine Arts.  Mention you are taking a class and receive a 10% discount.

  • Since we will mainly be focusing on drawing: 18 X 24 Drawing paper or larger and at least 60lbs (90gsm). You can also use Newsprint paper if desired.

  • I would suggest to buy a variety of graphite pencils ranging from 2H to 2B (I personally like sketching with 2B and even sometimes with a blue or red Prismacolor Verithin)

  • If you want to explore the world of charcoal, charcoal pencil, or carbon pencils I would recommend getting paper suitable for this kind of media (we will discuss the differences between graphite, charcoal and carbon)

  • We will use an easel (we will provide these for you)

  • Drawing board (the size of your board will depend on the size of your paper)

  • Boston bulldog clips.

  • Artist tape (optional to keep your paper in place on the drawing board, you can ask for assistance choosing the right tape depending on your paper)

  • Alternatively, if you want to use a paper pad and sit on a chair and draw that way, thats also a valid option and you don’t have to worry about bull dog clips, tape, easel or a drawing board, it will be harder to draw and get an accurate depiction of the model but it is an option.
