Description:
Join Lauren of Thick and Thin Lines for a 1.5-hour modern calligraphy workshop designed to meet you exactly where you are—whether you’re picking up a nib for the first time or returning to continue building confidence and consistency.
Each quarterly class follows the same approachable structure, allowing beginners to jump in at any point while giving returning students the opportunity to refine their skills through guided practice.
Who This Class Is For

Beginners: No experience required

Returning students: Anyone who has taken a calligraphy class before, whether you’ve practiced regularly or not at all
Beginners will learn the foundations of modern calligraphy during every session, while returning students will receive bonus materials and optional challenges to continue learning.
What’s Included for Beginners
All supplies are provided and yours to keep, including:

Two calligraphy nibs

Nib holder

Ink

Beginner practice packet
You’ll learn how to properly use and care for your tools, practice foundational strokes and letterforms, and gain confidence creating thick and thin lines.
What Returning Students Can Expect
Returning students will receive additional curated materials that change each quarter. These take-home items are designed to complement the session’s focus and encourage practice beyond class.
Returning students will:

Receive a new nib & ink pot with gouache

Learn about mixing ink, practice letter breakdowns and spacing.
Supply List:
All supplies included. Returning students are welcome to bring any of their own supplies if they have them.
Calligraphy supplies can be purchased at Nevada Fine Arts. Mention you are taking a class and receive a 10% discount.
Non Refundable Policy
To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all participants, please be aware of the following policy regarding class fees:

Non-Refundable Fee: All class fees are non-refundable. Once your payment is processed, it is considered final.

Cancellations by the Shop: In the rare event that we need to cancel a class due to unforeseen circumstances (such as instructor illness, insufficient enrollment, or other emergencies), participants will be offered a full refund or credit towards a future class.

Agreement: By registering for a class, you agree to this non-refundable policy. We recommend reviewing your schedule and availability before committing to a class.
