Portrait Society - Meets Every Wednesday!Date/Time: Weekly on Wednesday at 10am - 2pm Drop in Fee: $10 This is an ongoing studio class that meets every Wednesday. There is no formal instruction, but there is a live model every week. If you would like to attend or model for the group, contact Kay at johnandkaygenasci@mac.com. This group meets from 10am - 2pm. How to Turn Your Art into a Business without Destroying Your LifeDate/Time: Saturday, May 14 from 1pm - 3pm Class Fee: $25 Instructor: Tricia Leonard Join me in exploring how to sell your art and still maintain your current lifestyle. Alcohol Inks on Tile and YupoDate/Time: Saturday, May 21 from 12pm - 4pm Class Fee: $75, all materials are included Instructor: Kirstin Inman Relaxing, meditative, vibrant, colorful, fun....this is Alcohol Ink! Come learn the basics of alcohol inks and techniques. Alcohol Ink artist Kristin Inman will teach you how to use inks on Yupo Paper as well as tile. All the supplies you will need for this class will be provided. This class is for creatives of all levels and a whole lot of fun. After practicing techniques on a sample tile and a sample of Yupo, you will be ready to create your very own pieces! The class fees include supplies for you to paint a 5”x7” framed Yupo painting AND a set of 4 tile coasters. Or a 5”7” framed Yupo painting AND a 4”x12” art tile w/ hanging hardware. Please wear black cloths or cloths you don’t mind getting dirty because the inks will stain if spilt. If you enjoy the class and want to explore more, Nevada Fine Arts will be offering a 10% discount on art supplies the day of the class. Painting a Tahoe Forest in Oil with a Palette KnifeDate/Time: Saturday, June 4th from 12:30pm - 4pm Class Fee: $55 Instructor: Piper Monika Johnson Piper will teach you how to paint with bold texture and color. She will explain color mixing, determining values and how to apply oil paint with a palette knife. In this workshop you will learn how to paint the effect of light and shadow. Piper will also demonstrate creating interesting compositions and several oil painting fundamentals. All levels of painting experience including beginners are welcome. Stamp Making: Floral Greeting CardsDate/Time: Sunday, July 3rd from 12 - 4 Class Fee: $35 Instructor: Frankie Colburn Handmade cards are always great for birthdays, holidays, or when you’re just thinking of someone! Learn the basics of printmaking while making your very own greeting cards. Coptic Stitch BookbindingDate/Time: Tuesday, July 5 from 12pm - 4pm Class Fee: $60 Instructor: Oscar Venegas Class Limit: 10 Students In this class we will be using the Coptic stitch to bind our own hand decorated journals. We will begin the class by designing our hard covers with material I will provide, but if you have anything fabric or paper you would like to use (just needs to be thick enough to glue without any leaking), then learning to bind your book. By the end of the class, you will have your very own 9.5" x 6.5' hardbound journal. All materials will be provided to borrow, but if you feel inspired to continue bookbinding, all of the materials can be purchased at Nevada Fine Arts. Resin ClassDate/Time: Saturday, July 9 from 11am - 2pm Class Fee: $110 Instructor: Kelly Burr If you’ve wanted to learn how to do a resin pour, THIS is the class you want to take! Beginners ONLY class, you will go thru the safety aspects, the proper tools and supplies, get to see all the fun colors and additions to resin and then we will pour! You’ll make an 8”x8” flat panel piece, that after it’s cured, can be framed and hung! You will need to leave these overnight, and plan to pick up the following Monday between 10:30 and 11:30 am, as they will need the classroom for others. PayPal only Claymama@att.net

Intro to Stickers and EtchingDate/Time: Tuesday, July 12 from 12pm - 4pm Class Fee: $50 Instructor: Oscar Venegas Class Limit: 10 students In this class we will be designing our very own water planters from recycled bottles! We will learn the basics of sticker making, design, and etching. You will learn multiple strategies to work with vinyl both as a stencil and as a tool for decorating. I will provide two clean bottles for each student, as well as the etching cream, vinyl, and additional decorating tools. Students will need to bring their own exacto knife, eye protection, and any additional decorations you may want for your bottle. I will also provide some aquatic plants for you to take home. Sculpey Clay Basics ClassDate/Time: Tuesday, July 19 from 11:30am - 2:30pm Class Fee: $30 Instructor: Willow Hammon In this class, you will learn basic techniques for working with polymer clay (specifically sculpey). During the class, you will be instructed on how to create a tine unicorn friend of you chosen colors. BOOKMAKING: Using your own acrylic abstract art, cover to cover, & bound with a French link stitch over ribbon on the spine Date/Time: Saturday, July 23 & Sunday, July 24 - 10:30am - 4pm Class Fee: $145.00, payable via PayPal to artstudio4_2@icloud.com Instructors: Penny Pemberton & Carol Neel Create your unique and personal handmade 7 1/4” x 5 3/4” book from cover to cover using your own painted abstract acrylic creations for the cover and decorative end papers, and then bind the book with a French Link stitch over ribbon on the spine. 10:30 to 4:00 with a half hour for lunch.
The workshop space is limited to 10 students.
Some knowledge of bookmaking is helpful as the French Link stitch is an intermediate level stitch.

Daniel Smith LectureDate/Time: Saturday, July 30th from 10am - 12pm Class Fee: FREE Instructor: Scott Stevenson Join us for a fun and interesting conversation with Scott Stevenson, Sales Representative and Brand Ambassador for DANIEL SMITH Manufacturing. Have questions about Quinacridone pigments? Wonder where the color Serpentine comes from? How does the color Moonglow gets its name or how does DANIEL SMITH test pigments for lightfastness? What’s granulation? This is a great opportunity to ask questions in a conversational and relaxed atmosphere. The presentation will start off with the history of DANIEL SMITH Manufacturing and the many aspects of developing DANIEL SMITH products. You will see firsthand lab paint outs, minerals used to manufacture colors in the PrimaTek line and more.
